There are many benefits to tea; some of them are known, others remain a mystery. So what is tea? It’s the world’s second most popular drink (first is water), dating back thousands of years in China. Here are the basic types: white tea, green tea and black tea.

White tea is tea made from tea leaves that have yet to open into a leaf, while green tea is tea made from tea leaves that have been steamed or heated immediately after being harvested. Green tea contains the most antioxidants of all tea types

Black tea is also called red tea because it is oxidized/fermented more than the other two types. You will find that black tea is rich in antioxidants called catechins.

White Tea

White tea is a tea that has been manufactured from the tea plant’s young leaves. The tea must be made out of white tea buds, as well as steamed until it reaches a light brown colour. White tea, as well as all other types of tea, has many medicinal properties for those who drink them. They have been used medicinal benefits for hundreds of years to treat a variety of ailments.

White tea has been known for many years to have the ability to prevent cancer. A German doctor by the name of Dr. Kunachiro Onitsuka started studying tea and its benefits in 1928, when he researched that tea drinkers had a very low rate of tumor growth. He discovered this tea could be used in tea bags and tea extracts to treat tumours.

Drinking tea has many benefits to the human body. It boosts the immune system, and tea can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. There are tea bags available for purchase that contain tea extracts to treat tumours and cancerous cells in the body, and tea is also used to make tea tree oil that can be applied topically on cuts or wounds

Green Tea

Green tea is one of the most common types of tea consumed today.  You find that Green tea is made from processed and steamed tea leaves, effectively halting the oxidation process which causes browning in tea leaves

Typically, green tea has a bitter taste without additives. This can be offset by adding honey or lemon to your cup of tea.

A nice to know fact is that Green tea can also be consumed as an ingredient in mixed drinks. One example is tea-infused Vodka.

Continual consumption of green tea also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer and other medical conditions

The tea also contains caffeine which can have both positive and negative effects for your health.

Black Tea

Black tea is the most popular tea, and for good reason. It has a bold flavour that can be added to or enhanced by other ingredients like orange peel, honey, and milk.

Black tea can help lower cholesterol levels and prevent heart disease. The antioxidants in black tea also slow down the aging process and protect cells from damage.

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea contains high amounts of antioxidants which help reduce blood pressure and LDL cholesterol levels in the body, which is beneficial to cardiovascular health. This tea is known to also help with weight loss because it boosts metabolism but does not contain caffeine like green tea or black tea.

Herbal Teas

  • Chamomile – many of us know this tea as a sleep aid which it is. It also has been known to reduce menstrual pain and relieve muscle spasms.
  • Rooibos – helps with everything from allergies, blood pressure and circulation; reduces bad cholesterol and promotes strong hair and healthy skin.
  • Peppermint – Got an upset stomach? Try peppermint tea. Also helps with relieving constipation, motion sickness and IBS
  • Ginger – good for indigestion relief, fights morning sickness and eases joint pain
  • Hibiscus – lowers blood pressure and fat levels and may improve liver health.

Are There Teas One Shouldn’t Drink?

There are tea blends that may be too strong for certain individuals to drink, but are safe for the majority. Some examples of tea blends that people may want to avoid include curling tea, which has laxative properties and is used for weight loss or tea with ephedra in it, which has heart stimulant properties.

So In Conclusion:
