Festive Holiday Coffee

Ah, the holidays! The time of year where the air is crisp, and the smell of coffee fills the air. To truly embrace the holiday spirit, you need a good cup of coffee, and not just any coffee—holiday coffee blends that will amaze family and friends.

Holiday Cup of Coffee

For me, waking up on Christmas morning to the aroma of fresh brewed coffee is memory that stay with me. My parents would be up early preparing for our family Christmas meal. The signal for the kids to get out of bed would be that scent of coffee brewing in the kitchen.

Best Holiday Coffee Brands

So now in my senior years, what I look forward to is brewing my morning coffee before curling up to my Harry Potter marathon (yes, I said it!).  The scents of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, lightly mixed with the aromatic coffee brew bring my back to the good old days of family and friends.

Holiday Coffees

So, with all that in mind, over the past few weeks I have tried several different coffees and finally I have come up with this small list. Trust me my neighbours must be so confused waking up to the various scents.

Notes for Seniors: while you probably do not need my lecture as you probably already know, many of the coffee shop chain’s specialty holiday coffees and teas will be extremely high in sugar content.  Even many of the store-bought brands that I looked at were way over the recommended daily sugar limits.  So chose your holiday brews carefully – But enjoy!

Al of Big Al's Coffee Club

Al of Big Al’s Coffee Club.  From the time in my youth, when I would lay on our garage roof watching planes traverse the skies above me, I knew I wanted to see the world.

My passion grew after spending a semester of my university days in Barcelona.  I spent more time on trains and buses or coffee houses than I did in class.

After earning my BA from Carleton University, life got in the way.  But I did find time to graduate again from George Brown in Fitness and Lifestyle Management and then work my way through most of a degree in Sports Administration. However I needed to find work and pay for all this education!

It wasn’t until my “middle age” did I start exploring the world again.  First, transversing the US and Canada to take part in tennis tournaments. Then later to complete my spectator “grand slam” of tennis.

I accomplished this while earning my certificate in photography from Toronto Metropolitan University.  I am now combining the two passions and now sharing with you my many lessons learned.  And my passion for coffees and teas.
