Keto After 60
If you’re thinking about trying a keto diet, I will give you a few revelations from my perspective as an over-60 year old with arthritis and pre-diabetes. First, I consulted with my doctor and a nutritionist at my health clinic. They gave me a few tips and I monitored my overall well-being carefully.
Custom Keto Diet
Everything you read about a keto diet, will inform within the first two weeks you will go into ketosis. This is due to the fact your body is learning to shift energy supplies from carbs to fat – I have really simplified that statement. That said, I did not like the feeling at all. So what I have done is to modify my diet: mostly gluten free, elimanated processed sugars. Breakfast is a modified keto breakfast. I try to include something high in fibre such as a bran muffin or bran cereal. Lunch is a smoothie that I pre-make after the grocery run (check out the smoothie diet here). Dinner is a totally keto based meal. I try to throw in as many green vegetables as possible.
